Promises to Yourself

Another year has gone by and just before the end of 2021 I found myself listening to Jay Shetty. If you don’t know who Jay said he is he’s a former Buddhist monk. Also he may be a little bit pampered for my taste but that doesn’t mean the information that he’s sending out into the world is bad.

I have to give the man credit where credit his due as puts out a lot of free content and claims to have the number one health podcast in the world. May be able to look those numbers up but I’m not sure.

Before ringing on 2022 I was listening to his show and he talked about keeping promises to yourself which I can totally relate to. Especially when I don’t keep a promise to myself. One of his examples was setting a certain time to get up but he also says that’s kind of a low bar which I agree with.

What I’m diving into by bringing up his end of the year episode and keeping promises to yourself is that you need to find ways to complete your goals and continue to be a functional person.

If I’m being truly honest with myself this past year’s probably the most I’ve been able to actually say I’ve done that. A whole 42 years of my life, kind of being a out of place, & awkward person with no drive or determination.

For me the biggest takeaway I think just like many people is I’m working on it. That’s both in the short and long term. Hopefully it gets me to a better place because I don’t know what will work out if it doesn’t. Guess it just leaves me at what if?

Have a blessed Monday!

Happy New Year!
